To all of our clients and friends, we hope all is well in the new year. While we look forward to our 2022 season with all of you, let's take a look back on our 2021 season!
2021 marked a major milestone as Mr. Muskie Charters celebrated 20 years in business! Thank you to all of our clients, friends, and fans as we could not have done that without you!
The 2021 fishing season came with its challenges. Covid cases on the rise and travel restrictions between the U.S. & Canada both made it a very trying start to get our season kicked off with our Detroit River Walleye charters. While we may have been challenged we made the best of things and fished harder to get all of our clients their best shot at a limit of Walleye. While The limits may have taken longer and some trips falling short of the limit, one thing is for sure we had some great fishing days and made memories for people as well as putting some great eating fish in their freezers!
The Bass season started out with some pleasant findings. We found that this year the Bass numbers were in a better supply than the past few years! We caught between 2-3 dozen per trip with most of them falling in the 2-4lb range, however there were many 4-5 pounders mixed in as well! We hope and anticipate these numbers to rise in the coming years and look forward to the early catch and release season, which we will kick off again this coming April 2022.
Muskie season had many challenges to kick things off... The borders remained closed through mid-August. This limited us to where we could fish in the lake, regardless of what Mother-Nature had in store for the day. The boat traffic and weeds on the Michigan shore made the work that much tougher. We were able to boat Muskie most every trip despite the challenges. After the borders opened back up, the whole lake became available and we could then cover many more of our favorite spots to fish and the numbers of Muskie caught went up significantly! We had many great days of Muskie fishing and many trophies caught this past year. The top fish of the year was a 54" monster weighing in at 38lbs!
Sturgeon season started off a bit slow with some of our Fall weather blowing in as usual... It however had some great evenings on the St.Clair River system. We averaged at least 1-2 fish per trip along with some bonus fish too. While the numbers seemed to be down some nights the size was great! We had many fish over the 60" class and our biggest of the season was a monster 69" that was near 100lbs!
Thank you all for a great season!
